Lanehead Residents Association

View of Lanehead

The Lanehead Residents Association (LHRA) is an unincorporated association and it was formed as an unregistered charity on 12th April 2010 at a meeting of residents in Tarset Village Hall. The meeting was chaired by Jane Hart of Community Action Northumberland and formation took effect when eight of those present signed the Constitution, thereby becoming the first committee. The membership area covers the extended settlement of Lanehead and broadly equates to the the Victorian Township of Charlton West; membership is automatically open to all residents over the age of 18 and without subscription.bThe aims of the LHRA are set out in the constitution, namely To advance the interests and well being of the residents of Lanehead which is defined as Redmire to East Newton/The Box and Brown Knowe to Knoppingsholme (the area of benefit) and to that end the following charitable purposes are set out in the constitution and are to:

  1. represent the interest of members in consultations with the National Park and other local authorities and bodies
  2. care for the natural environment of Lanehead thereby conserving or enhancing the special qualities of the National Park
  3. seek community led outcomes in matters of sustainable development
  4. raise funds, receive grants and donations
  5. apply funds to carry out the work of the association
  6. co-operate with and support other charities with similar purposes
  7. do anything which is lawful and necessary to achieve the purposes

The committee met for the first time on Wednesday 21st April to develop the working model and elect the officers, who are Rex Cooper (Chair); Neil Astley (Secretary) and Preston Hoggan (Treasurer). We expect to bring all residents up to date with a mailing in the near future and hope to develop a relevant programme that will meet the needs of the community. For more information or any suggestions please contact Rex Cooper on 240002 or [email protected]. The Association also has a blog for circulating and exchanging information at http://laneheadresidents.blogspot.co.uk/
