Sidwood Forest

Sidwood Forest is an attractive and sheltered wood managed by the Forestry Commission. There are two small car parks and plenty of signposted walks. Sidwood includes the site of a former Romano-British settlement as well as a number of 16th to early 17th century bastle houses (like the bastle across the valley from Sidwood at Black Middens) and overlaps part of the Tarset Bastle Trail.

It is perfect for a quiet walk, having a picnic or for exercising a dog.
